Baltimore #35 is a very active chapter with
approximately 200 members and is located in Baltimore, Maryland. Our
chapter was founded in 1928. We are proud to have celebrated our 77th
year of service!
Baltimore sends 7 or more children with cancer to Camp Sunshine each
year. They sew "comfort pillows" for women who have undergone surgery
for breast cancer. These pillows allow the patient to sleep a bit
easier. Material is donated by a local dry goods store. They provide
approximately 400 pillows that are distributed to the area hospitals
according to their needs. These pillows provide comfort following
surgery and are also useful under the seat belt when driving.
Activities include many shows, trips to New York City and Washington,
D.C. as well as meetings and luncheons.
Our newspaper "The Wreath" is published three times a year. Letters to
the editor are welcome. Please send your typed, double spaced
contributions to:

Baltimore #35's accomplishments are many- there is hardly a hospital in
Baltimore that does not bear a True Sister Plaque. We furnished the
playroom at the Sinai Pediatric Oncology and Patient Department.
Last year we donated two high powered microscopes to help with bone
marrow transplants.
At the University of Maryland Medical Systems we refurbished the Chemo
Room, funded a Nurse Alert System, a Fitness Room for in patient cancer
patients and donated televisions and necessary equipment.
We donated a beautiful Respite Room to Greater Baltimore Medical Center
for their Oncology Department. There is also a fully equipped Respite
Area at the Ronald McDonald House for families to do their laundry,
cook, take showers and just relax and watch television in between visits
to the hospital.
We also donated a second van to the House to transport children and
their families to the various treatment centers.
We furnished the main waiting room at The Northwest Hospital.
Baltimore #35 contributed a special piece of equipment to the Oncology
Research Center of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally we provided a
room at the Gilcrest Hospice.
Annually we budget money to Hope Lodge, Hackerman Patz and Ronald
McDonald House and knit lap robes for Levindale as well as the comfort
pillows.
True Sisters will always be willing to be there when needed.
