We in Boca/Delray are very proud to be the host chapter to our new National President Betty Peyser. Convention was held at the Crowne Hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida from November 13-15, 2009. At that time Betty was installed as our National President and gave a very uplifting acceptance speech. Marian Cohen, past national president from 2001-2003 was the Grand Installing Officer. PNP Cohen presented Betty with a UOTS diamond pin, signifying her position as National President. It was noted that Betty's mother was a member from 1922 for 78 years, her grandmother Hannah was a member from the turn of the twentieth century for over fifty years to be followed by Betty who has been a member for over fifty years as well. Together this three generation grandmother, mother and daughter were members (some concurrently) for over 180 years. How proud we all are of proving "generation to generation" of serving our community and helping those in need.

This chapter is a supporter of Camp Good Grief, a camp for bereavement, which is a part of Hospice. Additionally, it provides personal comfort items such as wigs, prostheses, as well as colostomy items. Each year this chapter in partnership with Palm Beach and Deerfield Beach send children with cancer and other life threatening diseases to camp.

All meetings are at patch Reef Park, Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida. Meetings are on the first Thursday of each month. For the month of December, the meeting will be held on December 17th at 11:30 a.m. with a mini lunch and a sponsored entertainment.

January's meeting will be held on January 7th at 11:30 as a covered dish lunch. A presentation will be made to Camp Good Grief. Board meeting for December will be on the 28th at 1:00 p.m. and January 25th at 1:00 p.m.

Boca Delray #73 is now accepting orders for next year's Mahjong Cards. They will be delivered in March or April of 2011. The large print cards are $8.00 and the regular print cards are $7.00. Bunny Kranz is the chair person and can be reached at 561-498-1448 or at the next chapter meeting. We make money for cancer victims by selling these cards. Additionally, we sell used books, both hard cover and pocketbooks, at each meeting.

The raffle books for Boca/Delray have been sent to members to purchase at $5.00 each or 3 for the $15.00. Each month a raffle is pulled and the winner gets $50.00 and the stub is placed back in the bin for future picking. If you haven't already purchased your tickets, please do so and contact Esty Dobbs.

Boca also continues to take donations and send tributes to persons for "in memory of" "in honor of" rejoicing with you" or for any occasion. Please support this fund raiser by purchasing cards from Marian Marmorstein at either meetings or by calling her at 561-495-1070.

Don't forget to save your change and bring the coins or donations to our meetings. All funds go to send children with cancer to camp.

Of course, we will keep you posted in the near future about our spring luncheon. This is our largest fund raiser.

Most important of all is ==speak to your friends, neighbors and relatives about joining Boca/Delray #73 and be there for cancer patients and their families and especially for the kids. 100 per cent of all of our fund-raising goes to help others.
