UOTS has a longstanding
history of philanthropy in the South Florida community. Throughout
the years UOTS has demonstrated their commitment by supporting
improvements in the areas of clinical care, medical research and
patient services and their achievements are truly admirable. But
perhaps the most impressive and far reaching of all their
accomplishments has been the establishment of the
UOTS Special Clinic Camp for the younger cancer patients of
Miami Children's Hospital.
At the April Donor in 2005, Eva Ruthfield presented the Miami
Children's Hospital with a check for $200,000 bring the total to
almost half million dollars.
However, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of
our beloved president Eva Ruthfield. She was a dedicated and
loyal member of Miami for over 50 years, having received her
50-year life certificate at the opening camp session of Camp
UOTS this past July 2005.
At the opening of the camp, not only was Eva presented with the
certificate but she was honored in the presentation of a bronze
plaque of her denoting her dedication and the mark that she made
on the Miami Children's Hospital. This plaque was to be hung in
the hospital.
UOTS is eternally grateful for her life and the contribution she
made in making a difference in the lives of children.
