Ruth #18 is one of the oldest existing chapters of UOTS, Inc. They as other chapters provide wigs, prostheses, and personal care items for the cancer patient. Funds are raised for children with cancer to attend camp on scholarships.

One of the philanthropic projects provided by Ruth #18 has become a tradition. For every child who has been a resident of the Diocesan Catholic Children's Home over the past 14 years receive their very own birthday celebration courtesy of Kathy and Brennan Fugqazzi. Through support of Anderson Publishing and now Lexis-Nexis, a gift, balloon, choice of cake and $25 are the treats that the birthday boy or girl will enjoy.

Kathy is the Past National President of UOTS, Inc. and consultant to Ruth #18. Ruth 18 held weekly bake sales for members and non-members at Anderson Publishing. That provided the seed money for the birthday celebrations. Several times a year Kathy and her husband Brennan make a birthday special for these children as close as possible to the child's actual birthday.
